Blog Post 3 – Stage Management Cont. – Melea C.R.

As of April 17th, I have, with the help of my assistant stage manager and crew:

  • Auditioned and casted for Tom Jones
  • Operated sound board for the spring music concert
  • Rehearsed Ton Jones, and started occasional Saturday rehearsals as well.
  • Completed concept art for set, merch, and costumes
  • Advertised for Tom Jones on social media
  • Completed most of the projects in stagecraft necessary for the show to run smoothly

We succeeded in multiple ways, made good progress and even completed t-shirt designs in record speed. Tom Jones marked the Best Players’ first foray into online advertisement, with multiple posts and videos made to advertise the play. The online advertisement fared well and garnered a good deal of attention from students.

We faced challenges as well, loosing cast members due to a lack of commitment or motivation. We managed to recast certain actors in different roles and convince an actor to join us, and his contributions were exactly what the show needed.

In the future, to keep actors inspired, motivated and committed, we will work our best to keep networking and community building. Collaborative relationships between actors (and crew) “open doors to dynamic opportunities and spark fresh creative energy, allowing [for growth] both personally and professionally” (Genek, 2025)

Next in my action will be to continue to rehearse, meet deadlines on stagecraft projects, further develop and polish the performance and perform!
