Hi everyone!
As our Ruckle Park social media project comes to a close, I want to reflect on how much we’ve grown, both as a team and personally. This project has been about more than raising awareness; it’s been about learning how to create meaningful change through storytelling.
Challenges and Growth
One major challenge was finding strong visuals for historical posts. We overcame this by working with local historical societies and being creative with the photos we had. Another challenge was engaging younger audiences. Through interactive content, such as “Throwback Thursdays” and trivia polls, we began to see increased youth participation. We also learned how important it is to go deeper into the park’s history, especially Indigenous stories, and we’re working to share those more fully and respectfully. People also started to put #RucklePark
How This Changed My Thinking
This project helped me see history not as something old and distant, but as something alive and worth sharing. It also showed me how powerful social media can be for education and connection not just likes and shares.
Future Impact
Going forward, I want to keep using digital tools to tell stories that matter. I’ve gained skills in research, collaboration, and content creation that I’ll use in school, volunteering, and beyond.
The Bigger Picture
Locally, I believe we’ve helped bring attention to Ruckle Park’s beauty and history in a way that encourages real-world engagement. Globally, I hope our work inspires others to use social media to protect and promote important places in respectful and creative ways.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I’ve learned so much and I’m excited for what’s next!
