Blog Post #7 The Reflection

Hello everyone, as our Ruckle Park social media project comes to a close, I want to reflect on how much we’ve grown, both as a team and personally. This project has been about more than raising awareness; it’s been about learning how to create meaningful change through storytelling and sharing information.

Our Challenges and Growth

One big challenge was finding good pictures for our history posts. We solved this by teaming up with local historical groups and getting creative with the photos we already had. It was also hard to get younger people interested. But once we started doing fun stuff like “Throwback Thursdays” and trivia polls, more of them got involved. We also realized it’s really important to share more about the park’s deeper history, especially Indigenous stories, and we’re working on doing that in a better, more respectful way. We also saw that people started using the hashtag #RucklePark, which helped build a little online community.

How This Changed My Perspective on life

This project helped me realize that history isn’t just old and forgotten. It’s something real, alive, and worth sharing with others. I learned that stories from the past can still matter today, especially when we take the time to tell them in interesting ways. It also showed me how powerful social media can be. Not just for getting likes, but for teaching, connecting people, and starting meaningful conversations.

Future Impact

Looking ahead, I want to keep using digital tools to share meaningful stories. I have learned how to research, work with others, and create content. These are skills I can use in school, volunteer work, and whatever comes next.

The Grande Picture

I think we helped more people see how special Ruckle Park is and got them interested in visiting and learning about it. Sharing its beauty and history made people feel more connected to the place. I also hope our project shows others that social media can be a great way to care for and share important places in a fun, respectful, and creative way.

Thank you for being part of my journey. I’ve learned so much and I hope you guys have too. I’m excited for what’s next!
