Hi there! My name is Isabella, and this is my second year of attending IDS – Social Responsibility. I feel excited to be back on this course and explore the many different categories of IDS. I am 15 years old and am currently in grade 10 at École Dr Charles Best Secondary School. I live in Coquitlam, British Columbia, and my favourite subjects right now are Science and English, though they may change throughout this school year.

I was first drawn to attending IDS – Social Responsibility during my Grade 8 visit to Charles Best. The different categories, activities, and the opportunity to help support education in Kenya immediately caught my attention. I wanted to be part of a course that would both help me learn and make a difference to the world.

One of my passions is giving back to the community. I enjoy tutoring children in English and Math, as well as volunteering at places like care homes and animal shelters. For me, “community” isn’t all just about a group of people but is a place to build relationships with others. It’s more of a feeling and a place that you should feel a sense of belonging in. I feel that my place in the community is to help others and give back to the community.

Currently, I am most interested in the inquiry project category of IDS. This is because I want to research the question: “How does the changing season from summer to fall and winter affect our mood, what we eat, and what we do?” I chose this question because I am curious about the connection between the human brain and the different types of weather. I also believe that researching questions that interest me is something I find engaging and fun to do.

Thank you for reading! 🙂

Hi Maurice!
Thank you for your kind words and for leaving a comment on my “All About Me” post! I am glad that you are also interested in nature, and I will try my best to find more information on how the weather can affect people. Thank you for your encouragement towards my inquiry posts! 🙂
Hi Isabella! I really enjoyed your post. I love how passionate you are about giving back and building community — it really shows in your volunteering . Your inquiry question about how seasons affect mood and behavior sounds super interesting, and I can’t wait to see what you discover. Keep up the great work your doing.
