Hi! My name is Dara, and I’m 16 years old currently in Grade 11 at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School in Coquitlam, BC. My favorite subjects are probably law or any social studies subjects

My Roots
I am Mexican, and one of my favorite family traditions is how we celebrate Christmas Eve. While most people wake up early on December 25th to open presents, we throw a big party on the 24th, and stay up until midnight to exchange gifts. It’s loud, full of love, food, music — and definitely one of the best nights of the year.

A Few Fun Facts About Me
🔹 I’ve played both guitar and piano for a while now
🔹 I’m an assistant teacher at my church, where I love helping and teaching kids.
🔹 I’m also really into baking and cooking, and nothing beats making something delicious for my family to enjoy.
🔹 One of my biggest passions is helping others. Whether I’m giving advice, lending a hand, or just listening, I always try to be that person someone can count on.

What Community Means to Me
To me, a community is like a big puzzle. Every person holds a piece, and no one piece is more important than the other. We all contribute in our own way, and together, we build something beautiful. In my community, I see myself as someone who guides and supports others whether that’s at school, church, or in programs like The Butterfly Effect.
My Butterfly Effect Journey
I joined the Butterfly Effect because I’ve always been drawn to leadership. Back in middle school, I volunteered a lot and found joy in organizing events, mentoring younger students, and being a voice in group projects. Now, I’m super excited to be in the “Action” category of Butterfly. It fits me perfectly because I love being hands-on, connecting with people, making things happen, and sharing my experiences through writing and visuals (like this blog post)!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
