Hi my name is Salma Abdi Hadi I’m 14 years old and I go to Dr. Charles Best Secondary School. My favorite subject here is social studies because i love learning about history. I live in Coquitlam British Columbia with my mom and my little sister. I’m ethnically somali from Somaliland. Somaliland i an unrecognized country just north of Somalia in east Africa. In somali culture familial ties are very important and family is family even if they’re your cousin five times removed they’re still walalo which means sibling.somalia is a around 99% muslim so islam is a big part of our culture and closely tied to my identity.

Something surprising about me is that i have a typewriter from the 1930s and i have a book from the 1800s. I love collecting antiques not necessarily to use but to look at. In my free time i like to do arabic calligraphy i’m just starting out and i’m not that good yet but i hope to get better. To me the word community means a place where you feel at home a place where you can be yourself.A community is a group of people who help each other and genuinely care for eachother. To relax i like to watch a movie with my family or maybe my favourite show and make myself a nice snack. when i can i also like do a bit of photography when i took this picture of the clock tower in makkah..Out of these three categories i want to do an action project because i like to actively help out in my community not just report or write about something that’s going on. My version of a perfect best friend is someone who is loyal, kind, remembers the little things and communicates their feeling so we can work things out if we have problemes and someone that makes me happy just being around them.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better i’m really excited to start making a difference and hope you have a great day and goodbye.
