Hi.

When I was doing the values activity, I found it a bit difficult, because most of these values align and resonate with my own values. Eventually, I decided that the three most important values (In no particular order) for me were tradition, spiritual growth, and personal growth. On the other hand, my three least important values are equality, competence, and responsibility. I actually really agree with these results, I believe it really represents me quite well. I also think they should include more values, such as generosity, honesty, self-respect, and loyalty. One thing I’d like to mention is although the values definition is accurate, that doesn’t mean it won’t have a different meaning to different people. The definitions provided were just a model of what they could be defined as.To me, tradition means to have a fixed way of doing things, and have everyone follow those rules. As for spiritual growth, I believe it is extremely important to have a close relationship with God(Jesus), because having faith can really help you go through hard times. Personal growth is another important value, if someone doesn’t grow (mentally), they wouldn’t survive out in the real world.
Example:
I once did a test back in 7th grade. I hadn’t prepared nor studied for it, so I was sweating hard. Once I received the test (it was a social studies test), I took one look at it and immediately knew I was in hot water. I was seriously just praying to God that I’d at least get 50%, and right then and there, it was like the some of the answers just came to my mind out of nowhere. Later on I realized I should’ve just studied and not procrastinate so long. I think this example shows spiritual growth, and now that I think about it, I’m fairly certain this also shows tradition, because studying before a test I what I SHOULD’VE done, and that’s what most students traditionally do as well.
Future Example, Value: Personal growth.
Imagine you were looking for a job. Would employers rather hire a person skilled in certain aspects, or a person skilled in no aspects? Pursuing new skills and having a self-understanding plays a huge part in how much money you could potentially make, opportunities you get, and so much more. It is especially important in these days to have this trait, because just look around, mostly everyone around you is smart, you can’t be another Issac Newton.

After researching the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, I find that goal 9, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, aligns with my goals and value the most. The one I’m most passionate about is goal 8, “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. I’m passionate about this one because I don’t wish for Canada to become a third-world country because of the high immigration rates, plus with all the illegal immigration, most notably from India. Some things I might be able to do to prevent this is get involved with organizations that help enforce borders, just volunteering to help already helps someone in some way. I could also write to the government, but that’s probably less likely it’s going to happen.
