Inquiry Blog Post #2- “How can we stop species of elephants from going extinct “

Hi I’m Hailey welcome to my blog! My question this semester is “How can we stop species of elephants from going extinct”.

I’m going to do this project in three rounds of research; my first round (blog post #3) will be addressing why certain species of elephants are going extinct. I believe researching the why they’re going extinct is the best starting point because if we understand why it helps us come to a better conclusion of how we can stop them from going extinct and the precautions we need to put in place. My second round of research (blog post #4) is going to be why are elephants so important to wildlife and our earth. This topic is important to discuss in general while talking about a certain animal going extinct; animals/bugs like mosquitos serve no purpose in our ecosystem, so if mosquitos were to go extinct in wouldn’t have a big impact on nature. Elephants on the other hand have a major role in our ecosystem. My last round of research (blog post #5) is going to be about how we can help them. This is important because it’s my main question and it follows the research I will be doing in my first and second round of research. This question is important to me because it’s how we can help the elephants and resolve this major problem.

The five sources that can help me during this research is

https://savetheelephants.org/

They’re an organization who are doing a lot to help the elephants and they have lot’s of great information.

https://www.africanelephantjournal.com/

This is great source because it has a lot of great information as well as different writers/points a view because it’s a blog.

https://disappearingelephants.com/

This is an excellent source because it’s a website dedicated to research about elephants.

https://wildlifeinformer.com/

Wild life informer is a great website because they have multiple informative articles about elephants and other wildlife too!

https://wwf.ca/

World Wildlife Fund Canada is one of my personal favourite websites, they work with many different species around the world that are at risk and they put out a lot of great information.

This has implications on myself because it is a subject I’m very passionate about because elephants are my favourite animal and it makes me extremely sad to hear that they could possibly go extinct in my lifetime. It has an impact on the worldwide community because elephants do not exist in North America; they’re mainly found in Africa and Asia. I believe that is important to educate others worldwide about this cause because it is very important and if elephants were to go extinct it would have a major impact on our wildlife.

Thank you!

I love how you are choosing to research something that could potentially have positive effects for a whole species of animal! I can tell you are very passionate about the subject, and that your research to succeed. You also have really good concepts for your rounds of research, planning is always the foundation for success!
One tip I could maybe give you for the future would be to research thoroughly and be detailed in you answers. I can tell that your a good writer, so I would love to see more of your thoughts!
I can’t wait to read more about your findings, and hope hat inquiring serves you well!

  3. Hi Hailey! Your post is really engaging and shows how passionate you are about protecting elephants. I like how you’ve clearly organized your research rounds — starting with why elephants are going extinct, then explaining their importance, and finally focusing on how to help them. That structure makes your plan easy to understand and gives your project a good direction. I also really like how you added a short description of what each website is. It shows that you took time to check your sources and understand what makes them useful for your research. Something you could do to improve is, you could work on adding a bit more detail about what you hope to learn in each research round — for example, what specific causes or solutions you’re most interested in exploring. That would make your goals even clearer. Overall, this is a thoughtful and passionate post about an important topic, and I can’t wait to read more of your blog posts!
