Blog Post #2 – Action Post

  1. Along with two others, I will be working on an action project that will leave a lasting impact on my community. My action project will focus on teaching elementary school students survival during emergencies. For example, we will be covering choking, fainting, stranger danger, and even helping out someone else. We will be singing songs to help them remember, show them videos and do interactive hands-on examples. This will be extremely beneficial to the young generations because they will be able to respond to difficult situations rapidly and efficiently. I believe that workshops like these are necessary to present because it teaches leadership and proactiveness at a young age.
  2. Some complexities we might face include loosing the children’s interest when presenting or scaring them away while talking about emergencies and safety protocols. This is because the kids might find it alarming and terrifying to respond to situations where they are hurt or in trouble. Therefore, we will try our best to make it as friendly as possible and include jokes while teaching them to respond to scary situations.
  1. This project is a sustainable action because it has the potential to grow beyond a single event. It can be expanded into multiple presentations at different schools and can also include other meaningful topics such as bullying, recycling, and community safety. Our project teaches children a lifelong lesson that can help create a healthier, knowledgeable, and safer community over time. This is very important because it helps children reach resources faster, help save lives and create life long awareness. Moreover, it promotes critical and logical thinking and problem solving skills.
  2. This project provides an opportunity for young children to learn life saving skills that can stay with them for a lifetime. It is extremely helpful to teach children especially at a young age what to do when in danger. This is very helpful when it comes to situations where they are either alone or can’t reach a trusted adult. To ensure that our presentation makes the positive impact it is intended to, we will be planning out the presentation carefully so that it is clear and engaging to elementary students. We intend to have exciting aspects that will keep them entertained and we will make up fun songs to make sure that they can remember the materials that will be taught!
  3. An expert to help us out on our action project will be an elementary school teacher. This is because they are very well trained when it comes to teaching young children. They will be able to guide us and advise us in our presentation as well as help us out when trying to spread the message.

  1. This is such an amazing project idea! I think it is a very useful program that you are creating here because it helps kids to learn necessary skills for survival. I think that maybe you could also look into helping not only elementary schools but also middle schools (when the program picks up) so they also learn how to save a life. I know most might learn in elementary (with this program), but I believe that it’s always good to refresh your memory.

  2. This is a great action project idea! Survival skills are very important skills to have and this program will help kids gain this. Overall, this is a amazing project! For your blog post titles, you could try making them more specific , so people know more about what you are talking about.
