Action Blog Post #3

1.) Where are you with your action?

So far, all 3 of us have started contacting different local schools, and explaining our project with details like the cause, and benefits. We have not heard back from any schools yet, but we are planning on contacting other areas as well potentially reaching out to them in person. We have started to think about materials and other elements that need to be supplied and used during our project and how we can get them. In addition, we are also thinking about the comments and some suggestions that could be used to improve our project.

2.) What are some successes that you have had?

We have had success with planning out the presentations and what exactly we could tell the students about. Also, we have received a more positive response from asking different people whether this would effective and beneficial or not.

3.) What are some challenges that you have faced? Have you been able to overcome them? If so, how? Provide specific examples. If not, can you problem-solve some ideas that might work for next time or if a similar situation arises? Again, provide specific examples.

One of the major challenges has been getting a response back from the schools. I am not sure if it is because we have not contacted the right person from the school, or if it because we have contacted them online. But, we are planning on finding different ways to sort this out, such as asking around in person, asking some middle schools, and other ways of spreading and getting the word out. In addition, we initially emailed one school each, but we are emailing more and more everyday. Since this a major obstacle, one sentence that is going to stick by me is each short-term goal should follow a long-term plan, because this project needs to be looked at from an outsider perspective where we have to see the end goal and results and keep focusing on that rather than what have we done this week to get further on this project (1). I do not think a situation like a lack of response might happen again once we have established this project with a school, but if it does, we need to look back on all the ways we solved the problem this time, and use it for future concerns and needs.

4.) What are you doing next and why?

Like mentioned above, we are planning on contacting many other schools and even some middle schools. Then if that is a dead end, we will schedule times to meet up at these schools and see the outcome of that later on. Furthermore, we might contact some other organizations as well, just to get their overall opinion and some suggestions for improvement. All of this is because we just want to make sure our time is spent efficiently, especially after some major obstacles right at the start of our project. Its important to use up all of our time with a will.

  1. Hi Golsa!
I really enjoyed reading how you want to move forward from the setbacks you’ve had so far with your project.

For the next blog post, you might want to have a short intro of what project you are currently doing and what you have done, so others don’t have to look back on your old blog posts to know what you are working on. Overall, I really love the concept of your project and what you are doing!
