.) Where are you with your action? So far i have completed my action. I went to the river walked around and picked up some garbage some of the things i found were a hand warmer and a piece of ribbon. There wasn’t much garbage but I expected that because it’s winter no one is going there to swim so that means there’s less garbage than the last time I went. One thing that was nice about this is i got to go for a nice walk with my family and friends.

.) What are some successes that you have had? One success that I had that isn’t necessarily related to my action project is that my family and my family friends who i haven’t seen in a while got to go on a nice walk together and appreciate nature.I also realized how much i take nature for granted which motivated me to go on walks more often.

.) What are some challenges that you have faced? Have you been able to overcome them? I didn’t really face any challenges which was great. By the time i got to the river it had stopped raining.

.) What are you doing next and why? Seeing how simple it was to go to the river and pick up garbage I think my next step is to continue cleaning up my community but this time I will choose somewhere that’s still nearby but has more garbage to pick up. The reason this is my next step is because it’s simple doesn’t take much time and I get to get some fresh air.

On my last post Victoria Slusarczyk commented about this website for me to check out so i did. https://www.wwf.org.uk/updates/why-are-rivers-so-important-and-how-can-we-protect-them is a website that talks about the importance of rivers and one thing in particular stood out to me. It was the fact that rivers are home to some of the most diverse and endangered wildlife on earth. the reason why that stood out to me is because I didn’t think that many animals lived in and around the river. So that encouraged me to search what kinds of animals live in coquitlam river. I thought the only animals that live in and around the river were basic animals like fish, bears, coyotes, skunks etc. but i learnt that coquitlam river is filled with all kinds of animals like minks which I’ve never even heard of so that made me more inclined to help clean up my community to preserve the lives of these animals.(1)
