Hello everyone! After some emailing with the school that was able to cooperate with us, we decided on a time to meet with one of the teachers so that we can see her intake on our project. We decided to first meet with one of the teachers to learn more about her students and take notes on any advice she may have for us. My peers and I talked to her in detail of what our overall idea was and how we can make it come to life. We asked her questions and took her word of advice to help us throughout our journey. For example, we asked her about how much the topic of first aid is talked about in the classroom and how engaging the students find it. She informed us that they have reviewed it and enjoyed it very much. Moreover, she provided us with a booklet that had the topics covered already and the ones that had not. She advised us to keep our presentation entertaining since many kids have short attention spans and a boring presentation can make them forget the topic easily. Also, as a group we have found some websites like Standard First Aid and CPR Course – Canadian Red Cross and Coquitlam | Metro Vancouver | Red Cross First Aid & CPR Training which can help us provide any extra and additional information that we may need.

A success we have had is teamwork. It is extremely difficult to find a time where all three of us can meet and discuss how and when we can talk to the teacher about the presentation. Therefore, we learned to collaborate together through digital communication and schedule a time when it is best for us to have our information ready to be discussed with her. It was a successful turnout since we all discussed very important points and helped each other out when one needed assistance in getting to the idea. We walked together to the school and planned out as a team how this project will look like. We listened to each other’s ideas and took them into consideration. For example when Golsa mentioned that this project could be expanded to both semesters, Dara and I agreed and began to work together as a team to plan out how that will look like. In addition, Dara then mentioned how we can also expand to presenting to middle schools or even high schools in the future. These logical ideas helped us brainstorm and imagine the possibilities of what our project could be.

A challenge we have faced is scheduling a time to present. Since our presentation would have to take place during our school time and none of us share an off block we had to schedule our time and decided on a date that would be during i week or a time where we may have a pro d day. That way we can still present without having to worry about missing any of our classes.

Next, we will be working on our presentation like finding exciting lyrics and rhythms to help the kids remember our lesson. This will help us ensure that our project goes to plan!

I really like this project idea. I like how you explained what you learned from talking to the teacher, especially about keeping the presentation fun so the kids stay interested. One suggestion is maybe add a bit more about what part of the presentation you’re most excited to work on next. Overall, it sounds like your project is really coming together!

Hi Rima! I really enjoyed reading your post and I’d love to read more about this topic. Your project is well organized, clear, and easy to understand. One idea that could make your blog even better is using a little more of photos to give more context about your topic. This could help the readers get into a little more of context of understanding your topic. I’m very excited to learn more about this topic!
