It was the year 2024 where we were selected fourteen students who were to join butterfly effect project. Seven students from our school Thome boys Highschool and the rest were guided were from St Loise girls Highschool. We were guided by MR Sydney on how butterfly project worked. It wasn’t easy on my side at first since the project seemed a bit difficult but Mr. Sydney told us not to be worried much on what to do since he would guide us step by step until we got used to the program.

Mr. Sydney and his group came to our school bringing us new laptops. First we were guided on how to use the internet and how to operate the laptops . It was a fun and enjoyable experience interacting with the laptops.
As we furthered on with the project we were given more steps on how to do our research. There were even some factors to consider while choosing the resources. They were such as the author, the time that the research was done and the source.
We later selected our enquiry questions, every student with a different one depending with their topic . The research progressed quite well even though I experienced some up and downs in the research. I was able to overcome them.
One of the problems I experienced was summarizing the research. It was really challenging since I didn’t want to mess up. The other was power outages during the day of heavy rainfall.
Time also played an important role in the research and being short on time it brought a challenge to me since there was little time and a lot to do. But all in all I overcome the challenges and progressed quite smoothly . I really loved that we able to share and exchange information with students from abroad . I also enjoyed going through their blog posts learning something every time.
After the research period we started rehearsals so that we can be fully prepared since we were to attend the presentation at Olpajeta conservancy where we were to present our research . I remembered the whole week how we prepared our presentation . It was an enjoyable experience even though I was a little bit tensed and anxious since it was my first time to present in front of a crowd of people and feared slipping up during the presentation.
The day had finally downed. We were picked at our school and headed to the conservancy . We presented our research and Enquiry questions and later enjoyed ourselves. A quite enjoyable and memorable moments. The best moment was during the presentation since I did not mess up and did quite well since I remembered effort and time I put in the project research and preparation. We were also able to interact with other students from other schools and exchanged ideas. That was my year and one of my best yet.

Hi Erastus! It’s awesome that you had fun presenting at Olpajeta conservancy. I’m a bit of a nervous presenter myself, so I admire your ability to present without making any mistakes. I’m just wondering but what did you do your research on? The way you described your process and struggles really got me hooked! Great work again!
Hello Erastus. I really enjoyed reading this. You explained your year clearly, and I liked how you included both the fun parts, like getting the laptops and learning new skills, and the hard parts, like summarizing research and dealing with power outages. It also shows a lot of growth, going from feeling unsure at the start to presenting at Ol Pejeta and feeling proud of your work. I also think it’s really cool that you got to share ideas with students from abroad and learn from their blog posts!
Hi Erastus, You have fantastic post. You have motivated me since I have realize after darkness there is light. Despite challenges I can see you have really benefited from this butterfly effect project. I am eagerly waiting to see your next research. Hope we shall learn from each other.
Greetings Erastus. It has been so inspiring for me to know your challenges that you faced last year. It has been so amazing for you to gain courage and at the first time you feared. The thing that we have now in common is to have difficulty to summarize the inquiry. I wish you success as you continue with your research and as you are perfecting your content.
