Hi, welcome back to my post! A lot has happened since I last gave an update. I wrapped up my action project during winter break, and have since been reflecting on it. In this post I will talk about what I did and what I have accomplished.π
One of my successes was the execution of my action. Everything went perfectly! I was very busy over winter break so I was not sure how to plan the action around my schedule. My mum and I went to the Cancer Clinic on January 2nd. We decided that would be the best time for both of us. We liked that the date was right after New Years because we wanted people to have a positive start to the year. In addition, the weather was great when we placed the flowers and cards on the cars! There was no rain until we were leaving which is perfect because we anticipated rain and we put the cards into plastic bags anyway. And for the flowers, we bought them from a local flower shop. I had a list of three places that we could go to buy the flowers as I didn’t order then in advance. I was lucky that the first place we went had just enough flowers and in the colours that I wanted. The problem was that they cost more than I expected but we still bought them as they were the right colours and we did not know if the other places would have enough flowers.

I talked a lot about a problem with the parking in my last posts. I was concerned that people who were not receiving treatment would park near the front entrance. Thankfully when we arrived at the Clinic we saw a sign that said it was specifically patient parking. This worked out very well for my project. I was happy I knew I was getting to my target audience. I was also surprised because I had enough flowers and cards for almost all the cars in this parking lot.

I felt my project would raise peoples spirits, but I wanted to do something to truly help cancer patients. I decided to raise some money! I posted to my personal instagram and raised $100 for the Canadian cancer society.

I did face some challenges during winter break, none of them were too bad thankfully. The first one being the origami. Origami is exceptionally difficult to learn, and I think I underestimated the skills I need to have. I tried a couple of creations everyday and most of them were fails. I was going to give up on the origami idea but I truly thought it would be a creative touch on my project. I did some research and found some videos to help origami beginners. A few of them were helpful and I also got help from my family.

What is next? I have completed the main aspect of my project and I think I will now use my time to reflect on what I have learned and accomplished.π
Thank you for reading my post!!π
