Blog Post #7 – Project 1 Reflection

Hello everyone, and welcome back to my last blog post with my topic of “Do I shape my personality, or is it shaped by others.” In this blog post, I will be reflecting the journey of my inquiry project, regarding challenges, and impact.

  1. What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about

One of the biggest challenges I encountered during this inquiry project was learning to look at the topic from many perspectives rather than just my own. Since my study issue is about personality and identity, it was natural for me to approach the subject solely through my own experiences and ideas. However, I understood that in order to adequately address the topic, I needed to evaluate several points of view from psychology, research, and social perspectives.

To overcome this challenge, I read a variety of sources that addressed personality development from various perspectives. Some authors emphasized internal characteristics such as habits, values, and self-reflection, while others discussed how external influences such as family, culture, and social expectations impact personality. Comparing these perspectives helped me grasp that personality is shaped by a combination of internal and external circumstances. Looking at diverse perspectives allowed me to acquire a more balanced understanding of my inquiry question, which improved the overall quality of my research.

b. How did this inquiry change the way you think?

This inquiry shifted my perspective on personality and identity. Prior to beginning this experiment, I believed that personality was mostly determined by individual decisions and characteristics. However, during my research, I discovered how much more significant personality is shaped by a combination of internal and external factors. Family, friends, culture, and life events all influence who we become. It helped me understand better on how personality continues to develop overtime.

c. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

In the future, I’d like to remind myself to understand what I don’t know about someone’s experiences, surroundings, or personal challenges before making an opinion about them. Everyone is influenced by several factors such as family, culture, life experiences, and personal issues, thus their acts could come from challenges I am unaware of. As a result, I want to approach things with more curiosity and understanding rather than making snap judgments. Learning about the various internal and environmental aspects that drive personality made me realize that there is usually much more to an individual’s behavior than what we can see.

d. What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

This understanding may create better communities and relationships. When people understand how their social environments influence their identity, they may try to create more supportive and inclusive spaces where people can express themselves authentically. This can benefit people both locally in schools and communities, as well as worldwide, by developing respect for different identities and opinions. Understanding these factors can also motivate people to reflect on their own values and decisions, and, most importantly, to be confident in themselves. rather than simply following social trends.

Thank you all for reading this semester’s project! I am already looking forward to next semester, where i will be starting an ACTION project!
