a. What challenges did you overcome throughout this story project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
One of the main challenges I faced during this project was transforming a complicated historical conflict into a symbolic story that uses animals instead of humans. The real events behind the conflict are complex, emotional, and involve many historical factors. Because of this, it was difficult to decide which events and themes were the most important to include in the story while still keeping the narrative clear and engaging.
To overcome this challenge, I first researched the historical background and tried to identify the key turning points of the conflict. After that, I simplified those events and translated them into symbolic actions between animals in the forest. This allowed me to keep the core ideas of the conflict while still making the story understandable and structured like a narrative.
Another challenge was organizing the story according to the traditional narrative structure, including exposition, point of attack, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. At first, it was difficult to balance the pacing of the story while maintaining the tension between the characters. I solved this by outlining each section of the plot before writing the full story. This planning process helped me maintain a clear sequence of events and ensured that the story developed logically from beginning to end.
b. How did writing and researching this story change the way you think?
Writing and researching this story changed the way I think about historical conflicts and storytelling. Through the research process, I realized that many historical conflicts are not simple situations with only one clear perspective. Instead, they are often shaped by long histories, external influences, and different interpretations of the same events.
At the same time, writing the story showed me how powerful storytelling can be as a way to communicate complex ideas. By using animals and a fictional forest setting, the story can present serious historical themes in a way that is easier for readers to understand and reflect on. This experience helped me see that stories can be an effective tool for exploring history, ethics, and human behavior.
c. What impact will this story have on others locally and/or globally?
This story could have an impact on readers by encouraging them to reflect on the consequences of conflict and the fragility of peace. Because the story uses animals and a symbolic setting, readers from different backgrounds may find it easier to engage with the narrative without immediately focusing on political arguments.
Locally, the story may encourage students and readers to think more deeply about global conflicts and how historical events can affect communities for generations. On a broader level, the story may also remind readers that conflicts often destroy peaceful relationships that once existed. By showing how a peaceful forest can turn into a place of fear and destruction, the story highlights the importance of understanding, dialogue, and careful decision-making in maintaining peace.
