Blog Post #1- How does the amount of sleep individuals get affect their performance and mental health?

For my second inquiry project, I decide to research the question “how does the amount of sleep individuals get affect the performance and mental health?”

I found this question interesting because sleep is very important to me and I wanted to understand the deeper effects that it has on everyone, especially students and children, my age. Many people do not get the recommended amount of sleep due to extracurricular activities like school, busy schedules or spending time on electronics. Lack of sleep can make people often feel tired, stressed and decrease concentration throughout the day and I am interested in learning how different amount of sleep can affect a person’s ability to focus and perform well day-to-day.

As a student, I have noticed that when people get less sleep, they often feel more tired and have trouble concentrating and feel more overwhelmed than people who get the recommended amount of sleep. However, some people who get the recommended amount of sleep often feel more energetic and are able to think more clearly. This topic mainly caught my attention because sleep is something that I know many people struggle with and I wanted to see the deeper effects that it has in our life when it comes to our mental health and performance.
