Blog post 7-“How does misinformation negatively affect someone?”

Hey everyone! Welcome to my final blog post of this year. If you haven’t read any of my post, I did an inquiry project with question “How does misinformation negatively affect someone?” I’m here to share how the project went.

If I were to pick, I would say I had the most difficulty in finding the correct information. Since my project was on misinformation, I was scared that I would fall for the wrong information about misinformation. So, it was kind of overwhelming for me because different sites said different things. Like when I did my third blog post, I mentioned something near the end about Information Disorder, which is how misinformation, mal-information and disinformation affect are online environment. I found this information on a specific site, but I didn’t see this information on other sites, which made me confused on whether it was a real thing or not. In the end, I determined it was a real thing, but it was still a challenge for me to overcome.

This topic was very interesting for me because it made me change the way I think of certain online platforms. I’ve always known about fake news in stuff, but I’ve learned all the different ways it’s being shown. I will now think twice about something I see online and won’t jump to conclusion of it being true, impacting my future decisions.

This topic impacts others locally and globally by showing them the dangers of misinformation. Many don’t know the effects misinformation has on them. People see it everyday, and don’t know it. This topic impact how they think of the stuff they see online in a different point of view.
