Hi, I’m Jeremy, a 15-year-old student currently enrolled at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School. I currently live in Coquitlam, near the Coquitlam Centre. I have an older sister who is currently attending university in Edmonton. I am ecstatic to start the IDS Social Responsibility course, and would love to get to know you all!
I am Viet, so I can speak fluent Vietnamese along with English. Although quite unusual for one my age, I LOVE reading and enjoy every second immersed in a book. I’ve read multiple pieces, such as The Hunger Games, 1984, Fahrenheit 456 and Harry Potter (I don’t exactly find Harry Potter a book for me, though.). Once I have started a book, I sometimes stay up until 2 in the morning just to finish it! Something I consider myself the best at is my ability to quickly learn and memorize things — I can pick up new knowledge fairly quickly. I’m very proud of it!

Butterfly effect is a chance for me to reach out and contribute to society, and it costs nothing in the process. It is also a chance for me to meet new people, work with others and extend my friend circle. So when the course sign-up came, I was thinking, “Hey, why not give it a shot? It might be fun!” Now, I find myself here!

If I were given the ability to solve any problem in the world, I would solve the environmental crisis happening around the globe right now. It is a slow yet prominent problem happening in the world. Because of humanity’s effect on nature, we’ve been having stronger and more frequent storms, wildfires and a ridiculous amount of natural disasters. Yet everyone seems to be ignoring an impending danger, or even denying the visible proofs given to them. By solving the crisis, we would not only save lives but also provide a bright future for the upcoming generations and ensure a world where we don’t have to constantly stress about the shifting weather or dying ecosystems.

Currently, the action categories of the butterfly effect assignments caught my eye the most. Not only because it is fairly easy to do since I have someone I know who can give me volunteer opportunities, but also because I want to leave an impact on the community, even just a small one. I’m planning to volunteer picking up garbage inside Mundy Park, or going to a soup kitchen somewhere in Surrey. Regardless of what it is, I want to leave a mark, I want to act, for the good of others and the city.

Dear Jeremy ,how lovely it is to really have this chance of knowing about you . I love the fact that you are willing to solve the environmental crises which the whole world is facing . The plan to volunteer in collecting garbage around the environment makes it even more interesting.
Jeremy, hope you are fine. I pray to God to grant you that ability to solve the environmental crisis since you will not only save you country but also the whole world
Hi Jeremy, I am proud with your ambition of solving environmental crisis in the nation since many parts of the world are affected by natural callamities.Work hard so that you can reach your ambitions.
