About Me Victoria Slusarczyk!

Hello! My name is Victoria, but I prefer and am called Vicky for short. I’m Polish, for the time being I live in Coquitlam BC, and I grew up in Burnaby BC. I am currently thirteen and I am in grade nine at École Charles Best. On the subject of school, I have a liking towards most subjects, but out of them all I like English the most and Math the least. Even though I am not talented in writing, I enjoy reading stories and surprisingly general writing. Most of the time I am an extroverted person, though sometimes when I don’t feel comfortable I tend to fall into the background.

What is one thing about you that might surprise others? What is your passion?

One thing that about me that might surprise others is that I collect different sorts of coins. Moreover, the type of coins that I collect aren’t to old nor that valuable, I collect ones that have different pictures than the normal ones. In more detail, in Canada every year they manufacture a few different designs of coins to commemorate different types of events or people. For instance, they have a big set of the 2010 Winter Olympics that was in Vancouver and a few to honor veterans and soldiers. To collect these coins you can either buy them mainly from the posts office or sometimes the Mint (uncirculated coins) or find them in normal day-to-day change (circulation coins). The only difference between these is that the uncirculated coins come with packaging and are cleaner, and the circulated coins are in the condition of pocket change. Secondly, my passion is music. I play two different instruments, piano and clarinet. I play clarinet in school concert band, I solely play in band, I don’t play in concerts alone. I have now played for three years, I started in seventh grade. I play piano at home for myself, I play for recitals and concerts. I currently have played for around six years, but I took a two year break because I lost my passion. I am studying for my grade four test, it’s my first test of piano ever. But out of each of these instruments I think piano is easier because on the clarinet I there is more to focus on, such as breath, dynamics and rhythm.

Would you like to be the worst person the best team or the best player on the worst team and why?

I would like to be the worst person of the best team, I feel that being the worst on the best team gives you more opportunities to learn. In more detail being the worst person on the best team helps you understand and learn different values, like maintaining a good mindset, staying humble, striving for the desire to get better, staying resilient, and much more. Therefore, having a good grasp and comprehension of these values helps you build a good character. Knowing these lessons makes you a better person overall, insuring you have honesty, integrity, mental strength and morals that make you a good person. Also, when your the worst on your team you can always learn from others around you, making you better! Even when you do something well and succeed you will feel proud of yourself. Unlike being the worst person of the best team, being the best on the worst team can lead you to become lazy. Furthermore, always being the best and never learning anything new can make you bored or a slacker. For instance, if you try something new and your not right away amazing at it for your habit of being the best it might be hard for you to accept that you aren’t the best, leading you to ruin your character and mindset. Ultimately, being the worst person on the best team is better than being the best person on the worst team because it keeps your mindset healthy and guides you to have a good character.

Which one of the three categories of butterfly effect are you most interested (currently) in and why?

Out of the three categories of the butterfly effect the one I am most interested in is the action. In depth, being apart of your community in someway is helpful to others and yourself. In my life I always found it important to be involved in community, whether it was school, extracurriculars, or in my neighborhood. For instance, it helps you have a sense of belonging or fulfillment and aids the other in the tasks they have given out to you. I am intrigued by this because I haven’t had the chance to create a change and positive affect in this community. Also, I am now older and have more of an understanding on how to create a good impact and help those around me.

  1. HI Victoria your explanation about coin collecting was super interesting! I noticed the special designs for events like the Olympics that detail and when you talked about that I could relate. I also like collecting coins too, but I always end up losing them! Maybe you could include a quick example of your favorite coin and why you like it so much. Keep up the great work!

    1. Hey Salma! Thanks for leaving a considerate comment on my “All About Me.” I appreciate your feedback on how I can improve my writing by adding more examples and further explanations, I will make sure to keep this in mind in my future posts. Also, I thought it was cool that you mentioned collecting coins too. If you’re looking for a safe place to keep them, something that works for me is putting them in a pouch in spaces like a drawer. Thank you again for sharing your feedback!

  2. Hi Vicky! I really enjoyed reading your “About Me.” Your coin-collecting hobby was super interesting—especially the part about special Canadian designs for events like the Olympics and honoring veterans. It’s cool how something as small as a coin can carry so much history and meaning.

I also liked learning about your passion for music! Playing both piano and clarinet takes a lot of dedication. It’s great that you rediscovered your love for piano and are preparing for your grade four test—good luck, you’ve got this!
