Blog 2 post. What if there were more breaks during the school day?

The first step that I would do is to interview some students at school to see what they think would be best as students. The second step I would do is look up what other schools do around the world and see how it affects their students. The final step that I would take is doing some research about what studies say about how students grades and mental state change based on how many breaks are in the school day.

One of my sources would be talking to other students and teachers to get their opinions. Another source would be looking at university or college studies, and what their studies say, such as California learning resource network and more. My last source that I would look up is looking at some more modern school times to see what they do, in terms of breaks during the day.

If there were more breaks during the school day then student athletes, like myself, would be able to finish assignments during the school day and put more effort into them. It would also affect your sleep and well being, because if your getting home at 7:30 8:00 pm and i still have a lot of school work and have to eat diner that would affect our sleep and well being. This would also affect the community in the same way. Even if some people don’t have sports, they could still be up late doing homework and not spending time with friends or family.

  1. Hi Nicola! Great inquiry question for the semester. I think many students would agree with having more breaks during the day. I like how you have included different pictures and have a set plan. Something I would improve for next time is organizing your post more and including your sources. Good luck!

  2. Hi there! Similar to the reply above, I also believe your inquiry question is great. I like how clear each step of your research is, so it’s easy to understand how all of it comes to together at the end. I also enjoyed how you included your own opinions, so viewers like me can relate better to the post. On that note, I found an article that seemed to cover your topic, so I hope this helps you in your research: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9432722/
I have always wondered what could happen in your performance at school by having more breaks, whether that being positive or negative, so I look forward to reading your next blog post! Good job!

  3. Hello Nicola,

I think your idea for an inquiry project is very interesting. I believe that you can get good research from people around our own school, just make sure you have a big enough sample size, so that the results are reflecting a good percentage of the school. Even more, make sure that your question is not asked in a bias way, because it will not lead to accurate results. I liked how you included your own perspective and throughout your blog posts, specifically the first step, I would continue to add your opinion and how many breaks you would like during a day.

  4. Hi!

I found this inquiry question really interesting and engaging, as a student myself. I really liked how you included different education areas local schools and also universities. I also like how your approach to it is accessible and not too difficult, since asking around the school is fairly easy to do. Having different perspectives on an inquiry subject ensures a good diversity for the final answer which is important, one thing I would adjust would be some more detailed and engaging pictures. Great question!
