Blog Post 2- “Why do people procrastinate even when they know it hurts them?”

Three Steps for My Research

Step 1: Understanding What Procrastination Is and Why It Happens
The first thing I’ll do is research what procrastination actually means and what causes it. I’ll look into the science behind it and how our brain reacts to stress or tasks we don’t like. This will hopefully help me understand the reasons people put things off even when they know it’s bad for them.

Step 2: Emotional and Psychological Reasons Behind Procrastination
Next, I’ll focus on how peoples emotions and mental health can play a role in procrastination. I can research things like the fear of failure, perfectionism, and feeling overwhelmed.

Step 3: Ways to Overcome Procrastination
Lastly, I’ll research different things that can help people stop procrastinating, like time management tools, goal setting, or mindset changes.

Implications for Myself and My Community:

This question affects will affect me and others in my community a lot because I, like most high school students procrastinate a lot. Finding out why I do this can help me understand myself better, and can help me find ways to stop myself from procrastinating as much. A lot of students feel overwhelmed and guilty when they procrastinate, but if we understand the real reasons behind it, we can find healthier ways to stay motivated and support each other.
