Blog #7 – Reflection!!! – Project #1

My inquiry question was “To what extent does daily water intake influence skin hydration and acne occurrence in students?” In this blog post, I will be reviewing the journey of my inquiry project.

Throughout this inquiry project, I overcame challenges such as time management and loss of interest. Every week, I had to write a blog post following my outline, which was another addition to the mountains of homework and studying that had to be done from my other three classes: Pre-calculus 12, Anatomy and Physiology 12, and Physics 11. I was able to overcome this challenge by setting priorities each day. This depended on the weight of the assignment and its urgency, and this helped me focus on what mattered most at the time.

Initially, I was deeply intrigued with learning how water is of importance to our body; however, deep into the research, I felt reluctant to research about water and stress, almost bored by the topic. I was able to push through to this blog post with the thought that the end of this project and the start of a new project was near.

This investigation impacts my future decisions as I now understand I’m not as interested in research as I assumed I would be. Maybe I didn’t pick a topic that I was truly interested in. I know I will try research again in the future, but for now, I plan to focus on gaining new experiences that could benefit my skill set. My investigation will help others realize that having too much of something that was always considered beneficial like water, also has its negative affects. It will encourage others to think differently and be open to different interpretations.

The project gave me an introductory experience to how research is conducted and the amount of work it takes to keep pushing forward. If I were to describe my feelings throughout this project in just three words it would be exciting, tolerable and mundane. Overall, I am grateful for this opportunity to be able to try out research and also to really delve deep into a topic of my choice.

I plan to carry out an ACTION PROJECT for the second semester, so If my work is intriguing, I encourage you to follow along with my next journey!

Thank you!
