Blog post #1 – Dental Clinic Volunteering

Welcome to my first blog post for my first action project of this semester! I can’t wait to start impacting my community in a positive way. I hope you will enjoy my post.

1) What are your 3 most important values? What are your 3 least important values? Do you agree with the results? What do these values mean to you?

After completing the values activity I found my three most important values were responsibility, helping and recognition. In contrast, my least significant values were power, risk and spiritual growth. In all, I am happy with these results. It demonstrate through less important values is that I prioritize helping others and taking responsibility over gaining power, taking risks, or focusing on spiritual growth. Firstly, the important values mean I value taking charge by evaluating and acting maturely in different situations. For instance, in diverse circumstances I can listen, understand, and figure out initiatives. Nonetheless, I believe all values are important and they are valuable in all situations.

2) Research United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Which one aligns with your values most? Which one is your passion Why? Give one specific action you would like to apply to address this goal.

Out of all the 17 Sustainable Development Goals the one that aligns with me the most is the fourth one, which is quality education. I am passionate about this one because I would strongly argue that everyone deserves a deep and solid education. The action which I am doing to combat this problem is planning to shadow a dental hygienist to understand fully and share with others. For example, I would share what I learn from shadowing a dental hygienist with members of the Health Education Club so that we can all expand our knowledge and learn from each other.
