Hello! My name is Dylan Khakh, and I am a Grade 11 student at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School in Coquitlam, BC. I would describe myself as a funny person who likes to have a good time with my friends, but I also care about working towards my future. One of the biggest parts of my life is hockey. I spend a lot of my time playing and training, and it is something I really enjoy. Hockey has become a big part of who I am, and I like the challenge of always trying to improve. Outside of sports, I am also interested in business. After high school, I want to study business in post-secondary and eventually start and own my own company when I am older. I know that this will take a lot of work, but it is something I would like to accomplish in the future.
One of the qualities I value most is being able to work towards a goal. Whether it is improving at hockey or thinking about my future career, I like having something to work towards. I know that being successful does not happen overnight, and it takes time and effort to get where you want to be. I think this is one of the reasons I am interested in business, because I want to learn how companies work and what it takes to build something of my own. I also think it is important to enjoy life and have fun along the way. I like being around people who make me laugh and who motivate me to do better. In the future, I hope to keep improving at hockey, do well in school, and build a career that I enjoy.

What is your passion?
My passion is hockey. It is a big part of my life, and I enjoy the competition, the training, and being part of a team. I like that hockey always gives me something to work on, whether it is improving my skills, getting faster, or becoming a better player overall. There is always something new to learn, which makes the sport challenging but also rewarding. Hockey also teaches you things that go beyond the game, like discipline, teamwork, and not giving up when things get difficult. You cannot expect to improve without putting in the work, and I think that lesson can be used in pretty much every part of life. I also enjoy the friendships that come with playing hockey and being around teammates who share the same interests. Even when training gets hard, I know that the work I put in can help me improve. I want to keep getting better and see how far I can go with hockey. For me, it is more than just a sport. It is something I genuinely enjoy and want to keep being a part of in the future.

What does the perfect “best friend” look like to you?
To me, a perfect best friend is someone who is always there for you and who you can trust no matter what is going on. I think it is important to have someone who matches your vibe, someone you can joke around with and be yourself around without feeling like you have to act differently. I also think a good friendship needs to go both ways, where both people put in effort and support each other. Another thing I value is having friends who are productive with their lives and have goals they are working towards. I respect people who care about their future and try to improve themselves instead of just sitting around and doing nothing. I think being around people like that can motivate you to do better yourself. At the same time, a best friend should be someone you can have fun with and count on during difficult times. Nobody is going to agree on everything, but a real friendship should have trust, loyalty, and respect. Overall, the perfect best friend is someone who makes life more enjoyable, supports you when you need it, and encourages you to become a better person.

Which one of the three categories of the Butterfly Effect are you most interested in, and why?
The category I am most interested in is Inquiry. I like the idea of researching questions and learning more about topics that I find interesting. I think it is important to look deeper into things instead of just accepting what you hear or see. One topic I would like to research more is the Cornell 7 incident. I want to learn more about what happened, the events surrounding it, and the reasons it is important to understand. I think researching a topic like this would give me a chance to look at different sources, compare information, and develop my own understanding of the situation. I also like that Inquiry gives you the chance to explore a question that you are genuinely curious about instead of only learning about something because you have to. I want to get better at finding reliable information, asking good questions, and understanding different points of view. I think these skills are useful in school, but they could also help me in the future if I go into business. Being able to research a problem, understand the facts, and make informed decisions is important in many careers. Overall, Inquiry interests me because it gives me the opportunity to explore a topic in depth and learn something new.

Overall I am excited to get started with my first inquiry project, thank you for reading my post!
