Blog post #1: Values Activity

Hello everybody and welcome to my first action blog post. I hope you enjoy reading.

After doing the values activity, I found that my three most important values were equality, freedom, and justice. Upon receiving these results, I can definitely agree that these are much stronger values. However, my least important values were tradition, power and spiritual growth. Which once again I can agree on. I can agree with these results because I strongly believe that equality, freedom and justice are extremely important in our community, especially in society in general.

For me, a quality means that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and have equal opportunities and rights. An example of this is that we shouldn’t judge talent based on someone’s gender or sexuality. Next freedom for me means that people should be able to make their own choices and express themselves however they choose to. I believe that everybody in the world should be able to do whatever they want, of course, as long as it’s not illegal. Finally, I believe that justice means that everyone should be treated fairly, and that people should be held responsible further actions. Example I think of the justice system. I believe these values and my definitions of them describe the type of person I want to be and the person that I am because I care about others and believe that everyone deserves respect.

I also agree with my three least important value. I think that tradition is less important to me because I believe there are always new ways to improve things and society should be able to change overtime. Next, I believe that power isn’t as important because I believe everyone should have a voice instead of only certain people making decisions, especially if those actions will affect more than the person “ in charge.” finally I believe that spiritual growth is also less important because it’s not one of the main values. I focus on in my everyday life like the three I listened above. However, I still respect that these values can be important to other people and that they are important in general. For me, they are just not as important as the others.

For the United Nation’ 17 sustainable development goals, I believe that goal 10, which is “reduced inequalities” aligned with my personal values the most. This goal focusses on reducing inequalities and making sure everyone has equal opportunities. It connects to my values of equality, freedom, and justice, because I believe that people should not be treated unfairly because of their background or circumstances as I mentioned before.

I’m also passionate about goal 15, which is “ life on land.” I want to become a veterinarian in the future because I care about animals and want to help them. I believe the animals deserve to be cared for and protected as as well as as humans or even in the same way. The school connects to my interest because it focusses on protecting ecosystems wildlife and natural environment. The animals depend on. That is the reason I’m passionate about goal 15.

Finally, my plan to address the school is to learn more about animal healthcare, and find opportunities to help animals in my community. I will be taking many actions to do so for example I would volunteer at an animal shelter learn more about responsible, pet ownership or support organizations that protect animals. I’m planning on doing this all throughout high school and even in university because I care that much about animals and becoming a vet. Again, these actions would help me gain experience for future career as a veterinarian, but also making a positive difference in the lives of animals and our community.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you loved it!
