Blog Post #2 – Inquiry: Why is Religion Essential for a Society

I have decided on on the question “Why is religion essential for a society?” for my inquiry project.

Here are my 3 steps in my reaserch:

1. Exploring the role of religion in creating our society
2. Investigating the impact religion has had on on our global community.
3. Look into the role of religions in modern societies.

Step 1:

I’d start off by researching about how religion was and is used to bring people together by creating a sense of belonging. This step will help in answering my question by showing whether religion is able to put diverse communities together and keep them unified.

Step 2:

In this step, I’d look into how religious groups have worked and contributed through charity, volunteer work, education, and overall support in our communities. This information will help answer my question by showing whether religion is not only essential, but also practical in everyday life.

Step 3:

Finally, in this step, I would take a look at how religion is operated in multicultural and diverse societies today. This will be the final step in answering and showing if religion is still necessary for our society in modern times, or if its role has finally changed as other beliefs start to emerge.

How this question affects my and my community:

Personal:

It may help me explore deeper into my own beliefs and values. It can also improve my ability to understand people who have different beliefs and perspectives, which is vital for critical thinking and having respectful discussions. Studying this topic will overall give me a more insightful opinion on religion.

Community:

Religion is often seen throughout communities, and if more people understood better about religion, it could help with having better conversations about diversity and unity. Finally, it can also give our community a chance to reflect on how to support and contribute to having a stronger and better society.
