- What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about
overcoming these challenges?
The challenges I overcame were finding reliable and accurate sources that were not biased. I overcame this challenge by looking through the reliable sources tab provided by Ms.Martin to find tips on how to find reliable sources. For example, I started to look at the author of the article to see if that person was an expert on the specific subject. I also had some trouble with balancing this project with my schoolwork. I overcame this by creating a schedule, so I can concentrate on both subjects equally. Finally, I struggled with keeping track of the URLs to make them as a bibliography. I overcame this by copying and pasting the URLs on my document to keep track on which ones I was using.
- How did this inquiry change the way you think?
This inquiry project changed immensely the way I think. I used to believe that technology was only very harmful for relationships. However, through this project, I realized the benefits of technology too. For example, it helps us with long-distance relationships. I also communicate with my Quebec exchange student through SnapChat. We can also use technology to discuss the news because we can receive news faster online than by a newspaper. Finally, this project has also helped me realize that this question does not have a simple yes or no answer. Technology is a great alternative way to communicate, but it is more beneficial if we talk face-to face.
- How did this investigation impact your future decisions?
This investigation impacts my future decisions because I am less likely to quicky assume there is a definite answer to complex questions. Furthermore, this investigation helped me become more open-minded to research more complex questions before relying on my own thoughts. Finally, I really enjoyed this inquiry project, so I am inspired to do more inquiry projects next year. I liked it because it was a more detailed inquiry independent project than I normally do (a simple one-week inquiry project). I cannot wait to research more inquiry projects in the future!
- What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?
This investigation has an impact on others locally and globally because we all are engaged in our technology and relationships. We need to know how they impact our relationships, so we don’t become addicted to our phones and become isolated. This project will help others notice how often they are on their technology. Moreover, they will learn how it negatively and positively impacts their relationships. Finally, they will learn what makes a good relationship.
