Blog #7 – Reflection – What Factors influence human behavior?

  1. What Challenges did you overcome throughout the inquiry? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

During my inquiry research I notice that I had trouble consistently writing and coming up with ideas for my blogs, For instance, in my last posts, I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to finish writing my blog entries in the last couple because I felt like I couldn’t explain my study in a way that readers would understand. Furthermore, not only was I not able to clearly communicate my ideas, I found it difficult to find reliable sources that were related to my inquiry topic, some websites for example, had little or expressed information in a way that I could not use to support my arguments, making me feel anxious or frustrated at times. I overcame these challenges by asking teachers and family members for help when I struggled to write or find reliable resources. These individuals encouraged me and gave suggestions of how I could improve my blog posts in a way that I could inspire others through my own knowledge of the topic. I also found it helpful to look at others blog posts as a reference, especially those who had similar inquiry topics.

2. How did this inquiry change the way you think?

At the start of the semester, when I first started researching human behavior, I had little knowledge of my topic, not knowing much of what the term “influence” means. Now that my study has come to a end, I’ve realize how much of these “influences” affects our daily lives. This inquiry made me change the way I thought about my own impact towards others, especially since before taking this course, I always thought my influence was insignificant and did not have a affect. Now that I have gained this knowledge I want to positively affect the people around me and assist those who feel lost in their feelings

3. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

In the future, I will think about how I react in situations where I have an influence on other people. For instance, if a friend or family member asks for advice, I will give my honest opinion in a way that will help them and not frustrate them. I can use my decisions to benefit others in this way. Additionally, I may utilize the understanding of human behavior I gained from this course to regulate and logically make wise judgments in the future when faced with a difficulty or impediment that raises some amount of stress. In other words, I believe that after grasping this idea, I will be able to listen well overall and be more receptive to the thoughts and beliefs of others, as well as those that differ from mine. Ultimately, throughout my educational journey, I discovered that I truly enjoyed learning about psychology and the workings of the human brain. For this reason, I believe that this research has influenced the possible career routes I may choose in the field of psychology in the future.

4.  What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

By understanding our own influence towards others and the world around us we can use this knowledge to positively impact our community and possibly on a global level too. Influence is like the domino affect, where one of act kindness can rapidly grow and spread until we can see in our daily lives. This concept is not unfamiliar and is repeatedly mentioned by a multitude of people, however it is also tremendously important to recognize how we are influenced and are influencing others, since this can affect how we respond and handle certain situations and experiences. This research can also help to build an inclusive and healthy community for everyone, including those who have faced difficult and traumatic circumstances. In addition, we may teach children of all grade levels how to persevere in the face of adversity, as well as understand and respond to it responsibly.
