Blog Post #7 Reflection

Hello and welcome to my final blog post on my semester one inquiry question of “What is the most peaceful period in human history?”. In this post, I’ll reflect on the process of my research and share some of the key learnings and discoveries I’ve made along the way.

A) what challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
Some challenges I faced were narrowing down this broad topic into three smaller subtopics to research on individually across 3 blog posts and finding reliable resources. The three subtopics that I chose to focus on were trends of global conflicts, impact of the economy and impact of technology. Other subtopics that I considered doing included topics such as impact of religion as many past conflicts included this, social justice and equity and diplomacy and international relations. I didn’t choose these as with the first few resources I found on the overall topic didn’t include as much information on these subtopics compared to the subtopics I ended up choosing. Many resources I found on the overall subject were vague on what might be the most peaceful period. Many were about the current period and peace keeping methods. To get around this I found it better to search information only on the subtopics and to piece together the information to form a judgement.

B) How did this inquiry change the way you think?
the main thing this inquiry changed for me is awareness of the complexity of peace. This project has really changed how I think about peace. Before, I just saw it as avoiding conflicts, but now I realize other influencing factors needed to avoid conflicts. It’s about the current situation in the world depending on a variety of factors such as the economy to keep a country stable and political circumstances. Looking into history and society made me see that peace is a big, complicated thing with lots of parts. It’s made me want to think about things differently and try to make a positive impact in the world.

C) How did this investigation impact your future decisions?
This inquiry has influenced my future decisions by prompting me to look at issues of peace and conflict with a more informed and thoughtful perspective. Understanding the complexity of peace has made me more conscious of the broader necessities for achieving peace. Moving forward, I am committed to integrating the insights gained from this investigation into my decision-making process, so that I may further understand the reasons behind conflicts.

D) What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?
The impact of this investigation on other locally, is significant. By sharing the insights gained from this inquiry, it is possible to raise awareness about the complexities of peace and conflict resolution. Locally, this investigation may inspire individuals and communities to engage in,reconciliation, and peacebuilding efforts, fostering greater understanding and empathy.
