Blog Post #2 – Action Project – Marisa

Hello, welcome to my blog post #2 about my action project. Below you can read about my action project, enjoy! 😊

1.) Provide a summary of the action you are planning and how are you going to start.

My action project is to create a outreach bags within my youth group for a demographic that is often neglected. With the help from my small group at my church youth group my plan is to make bags with some essentials things such as socks, some snacks and food. My plan is to then go out and hand them out in downtown Langley.  In each bag also plan to have personalized little notes as an addition with a positive message or bible verse!

2.) One lesson in the talk is that ‘Everything is complicated’. Can you explain some of the complexity that you will face in your action?

During the duration of this action project I feel there could be many diffrent challenges we run into. For example, these outreach bags involves logistical challenges with navigating financial constraints and coordinating supplies. Another thing to be aware of is the safety and legal aspects that are to be addressed when distributing these bags in downtown Langley, we must insure we hav compliance with the regulations and prioritize the safety of the volunteers (youth and youth leaders) as well as the recipient.

3.) Is this action sustainable? Provide some specific examples to support your reasoning.

The sustainability from this project comes through the engagement from the community. Positive feedback and strong relationships made with the community support the sustainability and participation of this action project. Be being able to receive feed back of what worked and what may have not worked within the project and being able to adjust it based on its needs the project can be sustained over time as well.

4.) Is this action providing opportunity? How will you ensure you are making the positive impact that you intend?

Having the entire youth group involved allows these youth the opportunity to build skills in leadership and become more empathetic to others within their own communities. Getting feedback ensures this project and reach many new areas of opportunity to respond to the needs the community to ensure we reach a positive Impact.

Try to find an expert to be part of your action. Who knows a lot about the area you are studying? Who could help you on your journey to make a difference?

An expert to help be apart of my action would be my youth leaders. Having an expert that can help to iron out any little details that may be forgotten will be super helpful. These leaders will also help to ensure the safety of others and a smooth night of handing out the bags.

Thank you for reading 😊
