Blog 1# Does expanding your political views make you a more hateful person

The biggest problem that I feel that society: Absolute freedom of speech is often not allowed which hinders more conversation from both sides

The biggest problem that I feel that society is facing is the lack of acknowledgement that other people with their own political, socioeconomic, social, cultural, ideological views and that it is ok to participate with the “enemy” as long as it benefits everyone. I guess you can describe me as far right but that doesn’t mean I should be grouped in with a whole side of the political spectrum or that I can’t have ideas that come from the other side. For example, I think that people should be able to be mean to another human being if they feel like they are doing something wrong but I feel that they should be expecting to be dealt with something mean back, Tit for Tat or something, if you want to have different oppinions on sexuality go ahead, but don’t be surprised someone with opposing views will give you a detailed breakdown at why your dad thought that you were a disappointment.

  • My opinion on Societal funneling: What society does is group that person under an umbrella of “do not trust that group of people, but you can trust us” however, what that does is creates a self-contained group of people that don’t welcome outsiders. This completely goes against the original human condition which was to create communities of different people that would in turn expand the communities reach in all directions instead of being in a self-loving circle that loathes the new guy that might have something to say about how they run things.

People are so non wanting to change which is normal because familiarity is so safe, but you cannot be in a society that has such a large group of people and that all have a different view and want to homogenize that into your own views because “you are right” because that ironically opposes their personal views of what could be right or wrong.

Expressionability is invaluable and for what you take for granted you need to deal with the fact that it’s a right that you’ll hold and that you need to be just as equal as your “enemy” to create a justification for you to have it in the first place.

So this is why I am starting my inquiry project about how More Political Alignments can Improve Expressionability and increase more conversation.

  1. Hello Alex!

Your blog post really sheds light on the challenge of embracing diverse perspectives with an open mind. It’s indeed vital for society to be more accepting of diverse viewpoints rather than categorizing and ostracizing. Embracing change and welcoming new ideas is fundamental for a better world, even if it means stepping out of our comfort zones.
