Blog #2 : What would a perfect society look like?

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog post. My inquiry question is “What would a perfect society look like?”. Today, I will be laying out the plan for my next few blog posts. I will be posing three big questions toanswer across my blogs to formulate a final answer to my question.

  1. What are the good and bad traits of a society?
This will help me discover what is beneficial towards creating a perfect society and what needs to be removed and improved by looking at real world examples and generic societies. For example, a bad trait could be overdose rate, and a good trait could be community services and charities.
  1. What factors may create a certainty of peace, unity of purpose, religious principles, justice, ethical values law and order?
These are all the ideals of a perfect society by definition, and if we discover factors that can improve these, we are paving our way towards a perfected society. For example, to create a sense of peace, we can strengthen the law enforcement force.
  1. Can we create a system for all points of views and opinions be accounted for?
Everyone has different opinions and thoughts. This will make it very difficult to create a proper, evenly-distributed society because we need to take into account everybody’s opinions. For example, some people may have different political views. Some might want a democracy while others may have communist views. Sometimes situations like these can be impossible to solve with traditional thoughts. For example, in this situation, we may have to think outside the box and create a completely new type of government that satisfies the wants of everyone.

A Good Society

This question will have great implications to the world as a whole if solved correctly. Many philosophers, politicians, and teachers having been pondering about this question for years on end without a solution. If solved, this could greatly benefit advancements in technologie, world peace, and other major societal problems such as depression and hunger. As Leo Tolstoy once said, “Perfection is impossible without humility. Why should I strive for perfection, if I am already good enough?”. The answer to this question does not have to perfect, but what I strive to do is to create an environment that improves from where we left off and maybe solve some issues along the way. Just striving for that goal of perfection is enough to improve.

  1. Hello Fredrick,
I think that your sub questions are very interesting. I especially like that you asked the question if we could create a system in which all beliefs and opinions are accounted for, because this seems like a hard thing to do. I am interested to see what you come up with and if you find any research that shows this is possible or what this could look like. I look forward to reading your future blog posts, here are some links that could help you with your research. Im also wondering if what you find would be ideal, would a world where everyones opinions are accounted for truly be ideal, and or functional?
