Blog Post 1: Loneliness

Ah, loneliness. A quintessential part of any high school experience. To feel like a star in the cosmos, like you could vanish and the earth, nay, the universe will continue to spin on, oblivious to your presence and absence. I plan to write a story about this very topic, because I believe it’s an underrepresented topic, but something that millions of people experience worldwide, daily. So for my story, I invite you, the reader, to step into the shoes of someone who lives in chronic loneliness.

I plan for my story to be Second Person POV, present tense for maximum immersion effect. The protagonist could be an anybody everybody knows – we will know nothing about the protagonist. We won’t know their age, their gender, their appearance, their family structure, or even the reason for their loneliness – because sometimes it’s difficult to pinpoint a cause. The only thing I will tell you is that they are a student. All I wish for is for the reader to sympathize, to empathize, with the struggle so many people face daily, and the multifaceted response people express when they are soul-crushingly lonely.
