blog post 4, posts

Hi everyone, hope your all doing well our project has kept us quite busy recently so I look forward to updating you on the progress.

Where Are We with Our Action?

Currently are main goal has been focussing on getting posts up with ruckle park day coming up that has definitely been in the back of our minds, so look forward to hearing about that next post. With our Instagram we have really been trying to design some posts that would highlight the parks historic value and significance. I will put a picture of some of the more historically valuable posts down below, they are also available to read on the friends of ruckle heritage society, All of these posts were worked on with Brenda.

Successes We’ve Had So Far

In my opinion the biggest success we had so far has been community engagement, after starting this I found it really interesting to find out just how much some of the older people on the island know. We have had multiple older people from the island reach out and tell us about an artifact that we were unsure about or even tell us their stories with the parc growing up on the island. His has really taught me that even the person teaching can learn a lot form an encounter. Honestly just engaging with the community so far has been a big win, we’ve also had a lot of younger people who are new to the island reach out and tell us how much they appreciate the information and how they had always wondered the deeper history of the park.

Challenges We’ve Faced (and How We’re Overcoming Them)

We have been working really hard to make sure our information is accurate, but it has proven quite difficult to find accurate reliable information that was properly sourced, to solve that problem we have been reaching out to more historic society and people who have had close relation to the parc. Another challenge is trying to engage with more people who are not already as educated on the park as most of the people who we are engaging with already had interest in the park. To solve this problem we have been trying to brain storm engaging content.

What’s Next and Why?

We hope to make regular posts in the future to keep people updated on the park and the events going on with it. We also hope to learn more about the indigenous population and their stories about the park, which might be more complicated as it is a sensitive area and can easily be miss shared.
