Hi everyone welcome to my blog today I will discuss my full plan for my semester two project.
Provide a summary of the action you are planning and how are you going to start. For my action I have paired up with two of my friends, Eden, and Dara. We plan to volunteer to help out with a historic society located on salt spring island. Throughout this semester we will be helping them to plan and organize one to two events, run their social media presence, give opinions on different matters through a youths perspective and help them to create informational packets.
One lesson in the talk is that ‘Everything is complicated’. Can you explain some of the complexity that you will face in your action? For my action since it is so history based one of the complications, I’m worried I will face is realising controversial or non-historically accurate information, especially since the parc is on indigenous land. My biggest concern is that by highlighting the parks rich farming history we will be underlighting the also rich indigenous history.

Is this action sustainable? Provide some specific examples to support your reasoning.I think that this action is sustainable as in the long run even after we stop directly impacting it the people on the island will hopefully have developed a deeper sense of appreciation for the parc and can continue to help out themselves.
Is this action providing opportunity? How will you ensure you are making the positive impact that you intend?I feel as though this action will provide opportunities by giving people a chance to enjoy history in a way where they directly connect with the people sharing it, this will allow people of all ages to appreciate history more and be able to get more directly involved. We also plan to get engaged with some youth through events and maybe even give them the opportunity to take over our current position after the semester, this could maybe help them to develop leadership skills and other great traits like good communication skills which could greatly aid them in lots of areas down the road
Try to find an expert to be part of your action. Who knows a lot about the area you are studying? Who could help you on your journey to make a difference? We are currently working with Brenda an environmental education specialist who lives on the island and works with the society, she has been really helpful In pervading us with information and seems very eager to pursue the idea of youth involvement in the parks.

Thank you so much for reading my blog post
