Hello everyone, and welcome to my first blog post for project two! For this semester’s inquiry project, I wanted to expand on the topic of healthy eating to truly understand how the media and other external factors impact our individual understanding of what it means to be “healthy”. To do so, I intend to research whether food is considered “healthy” based on science or predominantly influenced by trends and social media.

As someone who has always been interested in health and fitness, I believe this topic would be extremely interesting to further understand. Through the use of social media, the idea of healthy eating has changed. Individuals are constantly exposed to new diets or health advice online, though it’s unclear how much of it is backed by science.

The concept of healthy eating is constantly changing. Though scientific research provides evidence about nutrition, social media and recent trends play a large role in shaping people’s beliefs. This often results in misinformation or unrealistic expectations, predominantly among teenagers who are exposed to online content.
I was interested in exploring this topic as I have noticed that different sources often provide conflicting advice about what is healthy. Such labelling causes individuals to consider certain foods as good or bad without accurate evidence to support them. This led me to question whether these ideas are supported by science or influenced by brands, trends or influencers.

Understanding this issue is crucial as the definition of “healthy foods” can impact our eating habits, mental well-being and physical health. By investigating this topic, I hope to develop a more clear and balanced understanding of healthy eating and learn how to make informed decisions rather than relying on social media.
Overall, I hope you enjoy reading my future blog posts, and I cannot wait to delve further into this topic.
