In this action project, my peer and I will be working on a project that will help create a healthier environment for everyone in my community. This project will require my peers and I to pick up waste from public parks. It will help by creating a less polluted earth where plants, animals, and humans can live cleanly which is extremely important in preserving our planet. Our steps include deciding between two or multiple public parks to visit. Then, we will document our journey by noting the places where more trash was found and places where less trash was found. This will help us brainstorm ideas and solutions of ways we can keep our community clean in the future.
In the video, “everything is complicated” refers to the struggles and challenges one faces in life. In our action project, some obstacles we may face include physical challenges such as strain and fatigue from bending, lifting and walking for long periods and even health and safety risks like encountering sharp objects or hazardous waste. We can overcome these challenges by wearing gloves, protective gear and taking breaks from time to time. In life, humans face many setbacks, everything can get complicated but it is important to get back up and keep going.

This project is a sustainable action because it has the potential to grow beyond a single event. It can expand to multiple organizations and non-profitable charities. This can also stretch to multiple parks and sites across British Columbia. Its idea helps keep a healthy and safe environment for everyone. After completing our project, we can come up with solutions that can help create a lasting impact long term. This can include making more recycling and waste bins or ensuring that signs are posted.
This project provides the opportunity for growth, change, and cleanliness. By focusing on picking up waste from public parks, it will help us be involved in creating a better future where our environment is protected, safe, and healthy. Although our change may seem small, it is still impactful and helpful. We will ensure that we are making the positive impact that we intend by staying consistent, reaching out, and leaving room for improvement. We will listen to people who may be able to help and guide us through our journey. This opportunity will also help us connect with nature, reach out to other important individuals working in the environment, and teach us self-discipline.
An expert that may help us and be part of our action project include park spark (Coquitlam), adopt- a- park program, and city cleanup kits. These organizations will help us on our journey by providing us some mentorship and advice on our project. This can be either through methods of picking up, what to look out for, or popular spots that are most littered.
