Blog post #2 How does the pressure to perform affect the mental health of young athletes?

I want to first research the sources of pressure on young athletes like expectations from parents, coaches, and competition. This helps me understand where the pressure comes from and why it can become overwhelming. I will then examine how this pressure affects mental health. For example stress, anxiety, and burnout. Finally, I will look at strategies to reduce pressure and support young athletes, which will help show how the negative effects can be prevented or improved.

This question is important to me because many young people, including myself, are involved in sports and may feel pressure to perform. Understanding its effects can help my community and myself notice signs of stress and take better care of our mental health. It can show how much coaches, parents, and schools can actually impact young athletes’ well being. This can lead to healthier environments that focus on enjoyment, and mental health support.
