For my second blog post, I will put my prior determined storyline into a full plot point outline. There’s still some small details I need to decide on, so apologies if it’s a bit vague.
- Expositon:
- Clovermoor is a small village you only visit in passing, the type of place where everyone knows everyone and gossip travels quickly.
- If you visit, the people are welcoming and generous, always willing to lend a helping hand.
- Gwen is one of the few permanent residents of Clovermoor, and she is what some might call a ‘town princess’
- She is the embodiment of a star town resident; she is kind and generous, smiling at strangers, aiding anyone in need, and patient with all.
- She lives with her parents and chubby cat Stanley, who is very dear to her heart.
- She’s an only child, but has many friends in her community, her best friend being a akward boy called Finn.
- Neither party remembers exactly how and when they became friends, but Gwen and Finn are inseprable, spending everyday together.
- They are quite an unlikely pair because of their personality differences, but they get along quite well.
- Finn is extremely quiet and reserved, no one knows much about him since he mostly keeps to himself in the cabin he lives in with his aunt.
- Point of Attack:
- Gwen, who normaly spends her days hidden away in Finn’s cabin, or strolling in the town square, starts to spend more and more of her time taking walks alone in the vast woods that surround Clovermoor.
- Finn at first is just a little confused by Gwens new hobby, but as she starts spending more and more time in the woods, Finn gets worried.
- Gwen starts acting wierder and weirder after her walks, asking strange questions and seeming distant.
- Finn decides to follow Gwen into the woods, to finally figure out just what she is doing when she goes on her supposed ‘walks’.
- Rising Action 1:
- As Finn tries to follow Gwen into the forest for the first time, she somehow, dissapears.
- As he approaches the forest behind Gwen, the trees almost, move, to cover her.
- He tries to fight through the branches to find her, but Finn eventually gives up, after almost getting lost in the forest.
- Rising Action 2:
- After a bit longer of Gwen acting wierd after her forest escapades, Finn decides to follow her again.
- Gwen won’t answer any questions about her what exactly she does on her ‘walks’, and Finn decides he absolutely must find out.
- The second time he tries to follow Gwen, Finn miraculously manages to keep sight of her through the tangle of trees at the forest’s entrance.
- Another problem arises for him though, Gwen knows she’s being followed.
- Gwen starts to run, darting behind trees and rocks that almost seem to move to cover her up.
- Finn tries to keep on her trail, but he loses Gwen again.
- Finn stands defeated, not knowing what to do.
- Climax:
- After even longer of strange behaviour for Gwen, Finn starts to get extremely worried, and just decides to face the problem straight on.
- He asks, pleads, Gwen to tell him whats going on, and why she’s acting so strange.
- Gwen doesn’t talk at first, avoiding Finn’s questions and trying to exit the conversation.
- Finn is desperate though, he won’t stop until he has an answer.
- Eventually, tired of the nagging, Gwen breaks down and finally admits; “It’s the whispers”.
- Finn doesn’t understand what ‘the wispers’ are, and what they’re doing to Gwen.
- Gwen refuses to elaborate, saying the whispers wouldn’t want her to talk more.
- Finn is tired, and extremely frustrated with Gwen’s vague answers; he forces her to take him to see these so-called ‘whispers.
- Gwen hesitanly brings Finn to the forest, and there, he sees something he’s not sure is real.
- Finn is dumbfounded and confused by the sight he saw in the forest; he didn’t know Gwen was capable of doing such a thing.
- Falling Action:
- Finn is conficted and doesn’t know what to do. He’s not sure whether he should tell someone about the forest and the whisipers, whether someone will evn believe him
- He’s also not sure how to help Gwen. She’s in too deep and he doesn’t know how to pull her out.
- Finn is in a sticky situation; try to get his best friend help, or stay silent.
- He eventually decides to keep her secret, knowing she would do the same for him.
- Resolution:
- Finn finally comes to terms with the whole situation.
- He’s bound to silence, it’s too late to tell anyone now.
- Gwen is permanently changed too, she’ll never go back to the way she was; the ols Gwen is gone.
- Gwen and Finn find peace in the changed friendship they have now; they know that things are different, but they’re okay with that.
- Nothing will ever be the same again, but the new understanding they have of the whispers, the forest, themselves and eachother is all that matters.
