Extinction is a natural part of evolution. According to earth’s history, more than 99% of all species that have ever lived are now extinct. The natural causes of extinction include catastrophic events such as climate shifts and also, the human driven activities and poaching can also cause extinction.
Secondly, species go extinct due to evolutionary and environmental pressures. The other cause of animal extinction is when they can no longer survive or reproduce fast enough to maintain their populations. The major factors can be caused by droughts and floods that can contribute to their extinction.
There are other major natural causes that includes; volcanic eruptions, catastrophic events which have caused five major mass extinction over the past four hundred and fifty million years, each eliminating a significant portion of life on earth. The animals that are said by scientist that they are going to be extinct are; the orangutan and the javan rhinocerous.
While extinction is a normal evolutionary process these cause is essential for conservation efforts at preserving biodiversity and maintaining healthy ecosystems. Which can help in conserving those species.
