Hi! welcome to my last blog post for this school year. In the last couple of post I’ve been looking into my inquiry question : why is there conflict in the middle east and how did it get that way? My general conclusion was that many of the same causes keep appearing, them being: competition for power, religious differences, and outside influence. Furthermore, conflicts today are becoming more complex because they involve multiple countries, proxy wars, and non‑state groups like militias and terrorist organizations. I learnt that experts think that conflicts in the region can easily spread and grow larger when global and regional powers get involved. Meaning that without long‑term solutions, the Middle East will continue to face instability and continuous conflict.

One big challenge I faced when doing this project was chosing what conflicts to include and which not to. Obviously I couldn’t go over every single conflict that has happend in the middle east through out all time, that wasn’t the point of my project. However choosing the events that had the biggest impact of the region was challanging. How I over came this was that I would focus more on the effects and try to group togther conflicts by proximity on the timeline. This way I could go over mutiple events at the same time, without it being painfully meticulous but still getting the important part: the effects.
Another challange I faced was that to understand many of the events I talked about you needed prior context that I didn’t have. When I was researching a new conflict I had to look up many, many definitions of terms and outside influences that I had no idea existed before. One way I made this easier on myself was making this proect linear, starting in the futherest point in the past and going through the events chronologically. This made it so I had some knowledge of what happend in the past in the area so when I did my later posts I incountered things I has seen before.

This project deeply changed the way I think by reshaping my understanding of the middle east and why it is the way it is. Now when people are talking about conflicts currently happening there I’m only I little confused, not completely lost. All because this project forced me to understand what happend and how. For example now I know the extent of how problematic foreign intervention in unstable areas is, and how it can complete change an areas dynamic.
I think this investigation will impact my future decisions by changing who I’ll support and urge the governement to give power to. Now that I am more educated on the events that happend in the middle east and the conflicts which will continue. I can properly make up my mind about current situations, form opions on who is right and wrong, and choose who to support or counter.
This investigation could have impacts on others locally or globally by also educating them so they can understand the context also form their own opinions. I tried to make my post as un opionionated and unbiased as possible so it could be used as an accurate sorce of refrence when looking at the events that happend and their effects. This way whoever reads it can come to their own conclusions about what should be done in the future.
Thank you for reading!
