Hello everyone! My question this semester was “How much influence does social environment have on the advancement of women?”
Today, we will be reflecting on how this project made me overcome challenges, changed the way I thought, impacted my future decisions, and impacted others around me to finish off this semester!

Overcoming Obstacles: Impossible Endeavours
For this semester, definitely the most difficult thing I had to overcome was time management and poor organization. As a serial procrastinator, I found it really hard to complete my assignments on time, especially with sports and extracurriculars getting in the way. To overcome this, I tried my best to set reminders, write it on sticky notes around my room, and plan my time out wisely. Still, this is a stint I haven’t found the solution to just yet, but I plan to give it my all in the future, and become more organized in the long run!

Shifting Thoughts: Reimagining Society’s Ruminations
Learning more about the continued oppression of women across the globe has been an eye-opening experience for me, and I think that my ways of thinking about the patriarchy and its misogynistic values have gained more nuance with the articles that I read to research this project. In all, my views on the discerning logic of society has shifted by making me muse more on the effects big decisions will have on the more marginalized communities that live around me.

Impinging Insight: What’s My Verdict?
Thanks to this project, I have given more thought to providing support to my local women’s shelter, and as a result, my family donates hygienic products to women’s shelters monthly! Not only does this give me a sense of fulfillment, but it educates me more about the hardships women face because of their gender. As well, this has impacted the way I read articles and look at news; because I always consider how it will impact those who are not as privileged as me, and how those who live in third-world countries will be affected. In conclusion, this project has changed how I feel and make decisions about news, education, and accessibility to basic human needs, because I have seen first-hand how difficult it can be to be a woman in poverty.

Colouring Communities: Affecting Zones Around Me!
Learning more about feminism is something that has not only changed me, but changed members of my family’s minds about the effects of patriarchy. Often, to complete assignments, I would employ my mom in finding articles I could use for my projects, and my dad in proof-reading before I turned them in. My mom, now more aware about how women her age could be oppressed hormonally, physically and mentally, has gained a new respect for women in such situations and we together have offered to volunteer at kitchens to help those who cannot afford food. My dad, as a doctor, has become more aware of how science can often be biased to favour men and exclude women in finding new solutions for all. In all, my whole family has become more aware of how feminism can be something to celebrate and share with each other, not suppress as a buzzword on the internet!
Thank you for joining me this semester, I hope you enjoyed reading everyone’s projects as well as mine. See you next semester! Bye!
