My inquiry question is how the amount of sleep students get impacts their learning and focus. One challenge that I overcame was keeping track of all my work. During this class, I had some times where I would complete all my work on time and other times where I just forgot to do it. To overcome this challenge, I started to write down which assignments and their due dates into my calendar, so that I wouldn’t forget. Another challenge that I had to overcome was losing focus while working because sometimes I would work really hard for the first part of my assignment, then get bored and not finish. To overcome this challenge, I started doing the assignments in small parts so I wouldn’t lose focus or stop doing them. This inquiry project changed the way I think because now I know that students are not just tired for no reason and that many real factors disrupt students’ sleep. It also made me more aware of my own habits, and now I know what I need to do if I want to be more focused and learn more at school. This investigation impacts my future decisions because now I know how much sleep actually impacts my learning and focus at school, and just my overall life. Because of what I learned while doing this assignment, I want to make better choices about my sleep so I can feel better in school. This investigation can help not just students at school but also adults in their everyday lives because it can help them understand how sleep affects them, which may encourage them to make better choices. After reading my blog posts, I hope people can be inspired to reduce screen time, drink less caffeine, or even adjust their school schedules.
