a. What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
During this inquiry project, I had one main challenge that made writing my blog posts more difficult: finding reliable resources. The reason for this was that no one knows exactly how AI will change our future because it is still relatively new. For reference, ChatGPT was released to the public on November 30, 2022. Although early artificial intelligence was developed in 1956 by John McCarthy, it was not accessible to the general public. Many of the sources I found were reports and textbooks published by companies such as Microsoft and other technology companies. To find reputable and trustworthy information, I had to search through many websites and sources before finding information that was useful for my project.
b. How did this inquiry change the way you think?
This inquiry changed the way I think about artificial intelligence because before this project, I mainly viewed AI as a tool for answering questions and helping with schoolwork. Through my research, I learned that AI has the potential to impact many aspects of our lives, including healthcare, transportation, education, and employment. It made me realize that AI can create both opportunities and challenges, so it is important to think critically about how it is developed and used. I learned about the AI detectors that many teachers now use and how at times it can be wildly inaccurate.
c. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?
This investigation impacted my future decisions by making me more aware of how I use AI and technology. In the future, I will be more careful about verifying information generated by AI and ensuring it comes from reliable sources. For example, back in October of 2025, when the Louvre was robbed, I came across this footage of the heist. I have always been able to easily tell when something is generated by Ai, but it took me almost half of an hour to realize that the video was Ai. The fact that it took me that long really scared me for the future. Now, I am much more careful about choosing reputable sources of news. It also sparked my interest in learning more about technology and understanding how AI may influence future careers and job opportunities. AI is changing many jobs, so it’s important to adapt to these changes, if one were to have this job.
d. What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?
This investigation may help others better understand how AI could affect their daily lives in the future. Locally, AI could improve services such as healthcare, education, and transportation. Globally, AI has the potential to solve complex problems, increase productivity, and help researchers make new discoveries. However, it may also create concerns about privacy, misinformation, and job displacement. For this reason, it is important for people around the world to stay informed about the development and use of artificial intelligence. The main reason I decided to do this topic is because it’s important to know about major new inventions, especially if it’s impacting our life, like AI has.
Overall, I am very proud of the project I put together and all the knowledge I now have about AI. At first I was uncertain about doing a project on AI because I’m not very good with technology. I am thankful I did pick it because I now know a lot about the software that many of us use on a regular basis.
