I did the my values activity and I found that I value, innovation, tolerance, and community. My three least important values were tradition, power, and competence.

I do find that these values describe me. If I were to pick words to describe me, I would probably pick something similar. I usually describe my values as creativity, independence, and community. I think these are different ways to say the words I received. Innovation is creative change, the fact that everyone should be entitled to their own independent beliefs is tolerant, and community stays the same.

I believe the least important values are descriptive too. I don’t always value tradition, as I believe there are always new and creative ways to do things and as a society we should continue to evolve. Furthermore, I believe that power isn’t as important since it should be shared amongst people. I don’t highly value competence as well since I like to judge a person by their personality and not only what they can do.

I do mostly find the sentences match the values. The sentences for innovation and community describe the words well using helpful examples. Contrastingly I feel the word tolerance isn’t the perfect word for the description. It sounds more negative and I would personally say: open-mindedness.

I have put into action the value of community several times. I enjoy being involved in my community through volunteer work or interacting with others around me. For example, I helped set up the Lafarge lake lights one year since I always love to look at them, so I decided to participate. While working on fixing some of the lights, I met lots of nice people who also wanted to help. This became an amazing example of a community since we were a group brought together by a shared interest.

I value innovation in the world around me. I enjoy the way society evolves, and I am always looking for creative ways to improve myself. In the future I would like to show innovation by thinking of creative ways to better my life and the others around me.

I find tolerance important since I believe that everyone has the right to their beliefs and lifestyles. I also believe that everyone has an equal right to do what they want as long as they aren’t hurting anyone. In the future I could demonstrate tolerance by showing people I am supportive of their self-expression and identities.

For the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals, the goal that best aligns with my personal values is gender equality. Women’s rights and gender equality have always interested me, and it aligns with my values of community and tolerance.

I am passionate about the value of education. I believe that everyone has the right to have a proper education no matter who they are and where they come from.

My plan to address this action is to help younger students in a theatre course. This isn’t a traditional school course but I believe it is relevant to have students be educated in all areas including their passions.I took this class when I was younger and I would like to continue to help educate the next generation.

Thanks for reading my first action blog post!!
