For my inquiry project this year, I have decided to look into diseases that affect the brain. My question is, why are neurodegenerative diseases and prions diseases so difficult to cure? The brain is one of the most complex organs in the body, which makes diseases that affect it very fascinating to me. I chose to look into why neurodegenerative diseases and prions diseases are so difficult to cure because I want to understand what makes them so challenging for doctors to treat. Through this inquiry project, I hope to learn more about what causes these diseases and how medical treatments could lead to possible cures in the future.

I also find this question interesting because these diseases can seriously impact someone’s daily life, memory, and relationships. Unlike many other diseases, brain diseases are particularly difficult to cure because of the irreversible damage they cause. By researching this topic, I hope to gain a better understanding of the challenges doctors and scientists face when dealing with brain diseases.
