Hi my name is Kylee and my action is to hold a food drive for pets.
My plan is to organize a food drive where students at Charles Best can bring in items or money to donate.

I would put up posters advertising the event (plus stating appropriate item to bring) to various poster boards and I will organize some sort of box or staff member who can keep the donations safe, (since everyone has different off blocks). Then after a few days I will take the donations up to a local animal shelter.
I think the lesson ‘Everything is complicated’ is referring to how when you try and help one group you may end up hurting another. So, it’s about trying to find a balance. For example, a group might want to help with deforestation problems by planting trees. However in doing so, they might be harming an ecosystem that was already in the spot they chose, they may plant an invasive species or the method they use to bring trees/saplings to the spot might hurt other plants nearby. (Ex. If they use a vehicle and drive to a specific spot in a preexisting forest, they may trample plants).
Some complexities I might face are, I might not get a lot of involvement from others. If this is the case, I may try and have a food drive elsewhere. As well as I might have difficulty getting a teacher to help me collect donations.

I think this action could be sustainable depending on how much involvement I can get from the students at Charles Best.
Assuming that I don’t get a lot of involvement, I would say that the action isn’t sustainable. However, if I do get a lot of donations, I would say that this action is sustainable. Since it may inspire others to donate to animal shelters regularly and it may provide awareness about animals in need. For instance, students might start conversations about how to help animals who need a home. Additionally, if there is a lot of support, I could make it a reoccurring thing. For example, I could have the event every year or every few months.

I think my action is providing opportunity. Given that, donating food can help shelters redirect funding into more expensive medical services for the animals. Which helps animals live and stay healthy.
To ensure I am making a positive impact I will check in with the animal shelter I am hoping to donate to. As to make sure they can accept the donations. I will make posters clearly stating what is appropriate to bring. I will also check donations to make sure they are within the expiry date and the food is unopened.
Thank you for reading!
