1.) Provide a summary of the action you are planning and how are you going to start.
Hi everybody, today I will be talking about the steps that I will be taking in order to start volunteering in a hospital so that I can start learning new things that will help me in the future for my community. First, I plan to research hospitals near my area and see whether they allow students to volunteer in their hospitals. Secondly, I will create my resume that explains my skills, my education, and my information. Another thing that will be on my resume, are my reasons why I would like to volunteer in a hospital and my goal that involves volunteering in a hospital. Thirdly, I will send out copies of my resume to all of the hospitals. After, I email my resume to the hospitals, hopefuly I will receive an email back. Once I start to volunteer, I expect to start with small tasks in the hospital, considering my age and that I have no qualification.

2.) One lesson in the talk is that ‘Everything is complicated’. Please reflect on this and provide some examples to support your reflection. Can you explain some of the complexity that you will face in your action?
After watching the Tedtalk “The Elephant in the Room” by Alison Stuart, I have realised that the goal that I have made myself will be hard and that sometimes it won’t go as plan. For example, in the video, Alsion explains that sometime the good things you do can also turn into a non good thing. She talks about how we need to stay determine and never give up. I now understand that one of the challenge I will need to face when I volunteer at the hospital is that because I don’t have any experience with the medical field. I won’t know every medical word that the people who work in the hospital do know. I understand that even if I may not know certain meaning, I will still learn and try to understand the words that they are saying.

3.) Is this action sustainable? Provide some specific examples to support your reasoning. Is this action providing opportunity? How will you ensure you are making the positive impact that you intend?
This action is sustainable because it requires time to learn. For example, in my previous paragraph I talked about how they would be a language challenge because I am not a doctor, meaning I wouldn’t know or understand all of the concepts that the doctors would be talking about. The more time I volunteer at the hospital, the more new knowledge I will learn. Over time, the language challenge will slowly become less of a problem because I will start to learn. I believe this action provides an opportunity. After all, if I decide to continue to proceed on becoming a doctor, my experience will make my college and job a bit easier because I already know certain things. I will ensure that I am making the positive impact that I intend by helping people in need if they need help with something medical. I can use my knowledge that I have learned from my time volunteering in a hospital and answer a question or help someone who needs medical assistance.
Thank you for reading!
