Blog Post 1- Values Activity Dara C

What are your 3 most important values?

  1. Spiritual growth
  2. Family
  3. Compassion

What are your 3 least important values?

  1. Friendship
  2. Integrity
  3. Leadership

Do you agree with the results? What do these values mean to you?

While I do value these top three results I got, that doesn’t mean I don’t value the least “important” values I got as a result. I do, however, think that spiritual growth is something I have focused a lot on this year. I think that many people don’t focus on their spiritual health as much as they should. We often talk about taking care of our mental and physical health by eating well, staying active, and doing things that help lower our stress levels, but we don’t talk as much about finding peace with our spiritual side. That is just something I strongly believe in, so I would say that result is quite accurate.

Next on my list of top values was family. I think this is something I have always strongly valued. I am nothing without my family. They support me and are there for me every step of the way. So yes, I would say family is something I value in my day-to-day life, whether that is by spending time with my loved ones or simply knowing that we have each other to count on.

Lastly, compassion is something I believe every human being should have. It is something I think we lack as a society, including myself at times. This is why I think I got this result, not necessarily because I am an expert at showing compassion, but because it is something I think about often. I believe we should all make more of an effort to understand others and be more considerate of what people around us might be going through.

Research the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Which one aligns with your values most?

I would say Zero Hunger because I think that, even in the year 2026, we still struggle to provide for those in need, specifically when it comes to basic needs like food. It is sad to see how many people are affected by hunger, especially when food is something everyone should have access to. I think that if we all work towards this goal, we could make a huge difference and eventually work towards a world where nobody has to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Which one is your passion? Why? (This may or may not be the same as (a))

Good Health and Well-Being is my passion because seeing how expensive healthcare is around the world makes me sad. Knowing that many people throughout history have died because they didn’t have access to proper medical care or couldn’t afford to go to a hospital is something that really stands out to me. I hope to work in the healthcare industry one day, where I can help those in need. I believe everyone deserves access to proper healthcare, regardless of their financial situation.

Give one specific action you would like to apply to address this goal. If you are not sure of an action yet, list 2–3 possible actions you might like to start.

I would like to volunteer wherever possible, especially in hospitals or healthcare-related environments. I think volunteering would allow me to help people in need while also learning more about the healthcare industry. It would be a good way to start making a difference in my community, even if it is through small actions.

Reflective Response ( looking back at last years results)

These were my results from last year, with my top three values being family, helping, and spiritual growth. My three least important values were listed as reliability, friendship, and belonging.

For the United Nations goals, my results from last year showed that I felt most connected to No Poverty, as it reflects my desire to help others live better lives. My greatest passion, however, was Zero Hunger.

Now, although my results are a little different, I would say they are still within the same general concepts. I still value these things; they have just shifted a little over time. For example, family and spiritual growth have remained important to me, which shows that some of my core values haven’t really changed. However, I think compassion has become more noticeable in my values because I have become more aware of the importance of understanding others and what they might be going through.

I also noticed that my passion for helping others has stayed consistent, especially when it comes to basic needs and healthcare. I think these results reflect how I have grown over the past year. My values haven’t completely changed, but the way I understand them and prioritize them has developed as I have gotten older and experienced different things.
